The Family Silver is a Main Quest in the DLC Questline A womans Lot.
Synopsis[]
A pair of Skalitz guards were at the mill asking about silver going missing from the mines. Pa looked like he was very worried, though he tried to cover it up.

Walkthrough[]
As you walk back to your Mill you may see your father being interrogated by guards about theft from the mines. Speak with your father to complete Ordinary Routine, and you will begin the quest. You can choose to ask for more information doing Speech challenges, or let the matter drop. Next you'll need to go warn Stibor who is lazing nearby the mill, and again may push for more information or not. It seems they've dropped a bag of stolen silver in the mine and Theresa is going to have to go get it. Your younger brother Samuel isn't involved, but can be asked to help draw a map. It's up to you if you want to enlist his help with a map, or leave him out of it against Stibor's complaint and go into the mine without a map.
If you enlist Samuel's help, travel to the fishing spot where he's enjoying time off from the mine after faking a foot injury. He's not happy you're interrupting his fishing, and it's up to you how much information to share with him. As with most men, it's difficult for Theresa to intimidate him but the other options aren't difficult.
If you get the map, you'll be given an option to fast-travel to meet Stibor. With or without a map, you'll next meet Stibor near the mines, where he'll give you a torch, answer any last questions, and distract Nemoy giving you a chance to sneak into the mines. You can drop down the cliff behind him or sneak in from the bushes, but move quickly as Stibor only gives you one chance. If you miss it, you'll have to be sneakier. Once inside, you're trespassing most of the time, so avoid detection if you can. A Padfoot Potion may be helpful here, and remember you can change your Noise and Conspicuousness scores by adjusting clothing - plus hiding your torch will make you less visible, of course. If you are caught, you'll be attacked but you can choose to surrender and be brought back to your father for punishment and then another try.
Your route is basically straight forward, ideally sneaking past the chatting miners on the right about the dance and the women of the village. If you are discovered by them, you may be able to run straight ahead to get onto the ladder and climb away from them safely. At the first ladder, you can grab a Padfoot potion before heading upwards. Continue mostly straight in the mines as one guard turns left out of your way. Turning right at the first t-junction that direction, you pass an oblivious miner on the left with a pickaxe. From there, head either left or right to work your way down into the water in the basement, backtracking to to find another spur that leads down into water. There, head to the end of the tunnel to find the sack of silver in the water near the platform. This turns out to be the same platform Henry of Skalitz has Nemoy drop in on him later at.
Now it's time to get out of the mine. You can backtrack, but be aware that if you're caught with the bag of silver getting confiscated you'll get a special dialogue and Game Over screen. If you chat with Stibor he'll ask you to take it to Pa, or you can deliver it directly without backtracking to Stibor.

Return to your Father to complete the quest and learn about the gift your father has in mind for you, and his plans for your future.
