Kingdom Come: Deliverance Wiki

Sheep in Wolf's Clothing is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Andrew in the Inn in the Glade will talk to Henry about the Talmberg fisherman, who often tries to sell a bit of poached game.

This quest is intertwined with Hare Hunt. It is not possible to successfully complete them both (though see "Notes" below).

Synopsis[]

They say forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest, and that goes double for poached game. Maybe that's one of the reasons I'm tempted to join the gang of poachers that's hiding out in the Talmberg woods. On the other hand, I might just want to infiltrate them to find out what they're really up to. Because it looks like they're after more than just game.

Objectives[]

If you have not completed the quest Masquerade:

  • (Optional) Get Andrew's tankard from Jakub in Neuhof.
    • Return the tankard to Andrew.

The standard objectives are:

  • (Optional) Meet with Black Lukesh.
    • Get deer antlers. (0/1)
      • (Optional) Bring the antlers to Black Lukesh.
  • Get the hunting horn of Nicholas the Huntsman. (0/1)
    • (Optional) Bring Nicholas' horn to Lukesh.
      • (Optional) Meet with the poachers in the clearing.
  • (Optional) Save Hanekin Hare.
    • (Optional) Follow Hanekin Hare to his hiding place.

Walkthrough[]

If you have not completed Masquerade, Andrew will ask you to go to Neuhof and recover his tankard from Jakub. You can threaten the stablehand to get it back, but if you fail, you'll need to beat him up. Alternatively, suggest an archery contest and bet 15 Prague Groschen against the tankard, or just pickpocket him.

Once Andrew has his tankard back, he will tell you to meet Black Lukesh at his house in Talmberg. Lukesh is apprehensive about allowing a stranger to join his gang, so he tells you to hunt a buck and take its antlers. Go and retrieve the antlers, either by hunting the deer if you have the Antlers perk (there is a hunting spot to the west) or obtaining it from someone else (Berthold and Konyash both sell them).

Once you have the antlers, return to Lukesh and hand them over. Now, "they" want you to bring back Master Huntsman Nicholas' horn. Either steal it from the Easy-locked chest upstairs in Nicholas' lodge, pickpocket it from him, or (if Hare Hunt is active) simply ask him for it. He'll give it to you if he thinks it'll get you in with the poachers. You can also tell Nicholas about Lukesh, but the huntsman doesn't just want to catch one poacher; he wants to lock the whole gang in irons. So, he'll tell you to continue with the quest and report back when you know who is behind it all.

Give the horn to Lukesh and ask him what is going on. The poacher will reveal his boss has hated Nicholas for years, since the huntsman almost had him falsely executed. The head poacher hopes to discredit Nicholas so much that Sir Divish removes him from his position for gross incompetence. The leader of the poachers, as you may have already deduced, is none other than the notorious Hanekin Hare. Lukesh tells you to meet them at a camp in the woods east of Talmberg (the same camp where the Cumans took Hans Capon captive during The Prey).

NOTE: This is your last chance to decide whether to complete this quest or Hare Hunt. It is not possible to successfully complete them both (though see "Notes" below).

Head to the camp and meet Goathead, Hare's second in command. Hare himself then shows up and cheerfully asks what your story is, but before you can tell him anything, the Talmberg guards arrive to arrest him.

If Hare Hunt is active and you had reported to Sir Robard or side with the Talmberg guards against Hare, you will fail this quest and need to continue with Hare Hunt. Alternatively, siding with Hare against the Talmberg guards will fail Hare Hunt (if active). Killing the guards, following Hare to his hideout in a small cave northeast of Talmberg, and speaking with him there will complete Sheep in Wolf's Clothing, begin Cherchez la Femme, and give you the option to speak to Lukesh to start Emergency Supply.

Either way, this quest is ended.

Notes[]

  • It is technically possible to complete both Hare Hunt and Sheep in Wolf's Clothing. To do so, first start Hare Hunt then Sheep in Wolf's Clothing (it is not possible to start the former quest if the latter has already been started), and play through Hare Hunt to the point where you discover Margaret's and Hare's meeting place. Before reporting to Nicholas and Sir Robard, approach Hare at the meeting place, try to arrest him, and fist-fight him to victory. The scene will then shift to Talmberg, where Nicholas will thank you and Hare Hunt will complete. You can then continue and complete Sheep in Wolf's Clothing. However, following this approach will break Cherchez la Femme, as Nicholas will not have the dialogue option to sign the confession.
  • It is recommended to save before talking to Hare, as the guards may kill him while the game is still loading after the cutscene.
  • If you decide to fight the Talmberg guards in the camp, be careful not to accidentally hit Hare, as doing so will cause the poachers to turn against you. If you accidentally kill one of the poachers, you will be wanted in Talmberg for murder.
