Samuel, called Sammy by his sister Theresa, is a supporting character in Kingdom Come: Deliverance DLC A Woman's Lot. He was a citizen of Skalitz, where he worked in the mines and lived at his family mill.

Biography[]

Samuel was the youngest son of the Miller of Skalitz and had two older siblings, Stibor and Theresa. He was a bit of a layabout and enjoyed fishing in the local pond. Theresa seemed to be more of a motherly figure to him than a sister, so their mother may have died when Sammy was still quite young.

In 1403 during Ordinary Routine like any either day, Samuel has to be woken up by his sister to go to work at the Skalitz mines. But all he really wants do to is go fishing. He is reminded that he's already in trouble with Nemoy, the foreman of the mines, for leaving work early and "accidently" dropping a bucket on fellow miner Tonda's head.

Later that day Sammy is called upon by Theresa during The Family Silver, while at the local pond lounging around off work having pretended to have injured his foot with a pickaxe. She needs him to draw a map of the mines to find a sack of stolen silver, that Stibor dropped in a flooded mineshaft. if Samuel is told the truth that his father and brother are stealing King Wenceslas IV's silver, he later on confronts his Pa about it.

The next day Samuel is working in the mines when an army of Cuman mercenaries, under orders from King Sigismund of Hungary, and being led by his general Sir Markvart von Aulitz attacked Skalitz. He is stabbed by a Cuman when a few of them come into the same mineshaft Samuel is in, but he manages to get away from them as they are more interested in the silver.

Theresa is led to him by Fritz and Matthew during Thicker than Water. Sammy is in a lot of pain and begs his sister for help. Checking his injuries, she finds an ugly wound but the bandages have seemingly stopped the bleeding. He asks after his Pa and brother, and if told the truth that they are both dead he hopes God will forgive them for some of the bad things they did. Sammy then thanks Theresa for always taking care of him when he was little and tells her to promise him that she'll save herself if he doesn't make it. He is helped to his feet by his sister and moved to the mine entrance with a handful of other survivors to try and escape to Talmberg, however Matthew states that Samuel has lost too much blood and can barely stand on his own. He would hold the others up and probably would not survive the journey, so Theresa stays behind to nurse him.

That night during Ties that Bind, Samuel's bandages are soaked through with blood, needing to find linen to change them, and water to clean the wound as well as marigold herbs to stop infection. Theresa obtains the needed items to aid her little brother from around the area and they spend the night huddled together outside the mine in the rain. Sammy passes away peacefully in the course of the night from his injuries.

Theresa eventually went back to Skalitz to bury her family, laying Samuel to rest near the mines on a hill where the siblings used to meet for lunch, a place he was fond of.
