Saintly Remains is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The quest is assigned to Henry by Urban, the guard outside the front door of the house of the custodian of Sasau Monastery, which is against the northern wall inside the monastery grounds.

Synopsis[]

Urban would like to touch the remains of Saint Procopius, but the local monastery monks do not allow him to do so.

Objectives[]

  • Get a piece of the remains of Saint Procopius for Urban.
    • Bring the relic to Urban.
    • Get "better" remains.

Walkthrough[]

To get a piece of the remains of Saint Procopius, you must go to the cave of Saint Procopius, which is at the construction site you investigate during the side quest The House of God.

There are four potential entrances that allow you to reach the Cave of Saint Procopius.

  1. Entrance #1: In the monastery courtyard where the stonemasons are preparing bricks, there are two archways that lead into a stone construction site. On the left is a ladder leading down. Before the Very Hard-locked door is an archway with stairs leading down into the cave. The upper entrance is watched by one or two guards who may be extremely difficult to sneak past depending on your skill level. However, if you are concurrently doing the quest The House of God, you can walk right past them during your investigation.
  2. Entrance #2: On the outer face of the northern wall of the monastery (where you may escape with Pious during A Needle in a Haystack) is a Very Hard-locked door. After going through the door, immediately on the left wall, before the ladder leading up, are stairs leading down to the cave.
  3. Entrance #3: Entering the monastery nave where the altar and pulpit are, go to the hallway on the left where the indulgence box is. Go straight through the door and down the ladder in front of you. On the right wall are stairs leading down into the cave before the door.
  4. Entrance #4: If the other options are closed to you and you do not want to lockpick or sneak past guards, you can climb the scaffolding to the right of the Very Hard-locked door mentioned above in the description of entrance #2. Follow the ladders leading up and the wooden walkways until you reach a ladder leading down to a room with a water trough. Go through the archway to the left of the water trough and take an immediate right down a ladder. On the right wall are stairs leading down into the cave before the door.

Follow the path into the cave until you see a wooden cross and some candles. In front of the cross should be a bowl from the cave. Upon picking up the bowl, you will remark that it looks "too ordinary", and the quest objectives will update to give you the choice to either bring the relic to Urban or find "better" remains.

Taking the bowl to Urban, he will say that he expected something different but is grateful for the chance to touch the relic. This will complete the quest, although Urban will ask Henry to return the bowl to the cave.

If the bowl seems a bit too mundane even for you, you can find one of two alternative relics:

  1. Alternative relic #1: Speak to the charlatan in the main square of Sasau (or in Ledetchko if you completed Miracles While You Wait). He has a dialogue option about Saint Procopius' remains and will sell you a finger bone (or - if you already finished his quest - Procopius' tooth, the very tooth you obtained for him in the first place) to pass off as the real thing. Upon presenting Urban with the bone or tooth, you must pass a Speech check to convince him of it's authenticity or the quest will fail.
  2. Alternative relic #2: You can go gravedigging in the cemetery grounds at St. Martin's church at the southern end of Sasau. You can then remove a bone from the corpse and present it to Urban. This alternative is useful if you cannot enter the cave and have no money to pay the charlatan, but it also requires you to pass a Speech check with Urban or the quest will fail.

Return to Urban and either present him with the bowl or convince him to take one of the fake relics, and you are given the option to ask for groschen as a reward or decline payment. Neither option appears to affect your reputation at the monastery, so feel free to take the coin. This ends the quest.

Though it is not a quest objective, whether you decide to give the bowl to Urban or not, you can return it to the cave after the end of the quest. If you do not return the bowl to the cave, Urban will start a fistfight with you the next time you're in the monastery. This comes with a reputation loss as well.

Notes[]

  • It can be difficult to access the cave with the bowl through the construction site, as it is guarded. However, during the investigation involved in The House of God, you have free access to it. It is therefore practical to combine these two side quests.
