The Rovna Villager is a farmer who lives in Rovna.

Biography[]

When the villager was young, his brother ran away with some travelling performers. On his deathbed, his father made him swear that he would never leave their family home.

In 1403, King Sigismund, leading his Cuman army, attack Skalitz, and then turn their attention on the nearby village of Rovna. The villager hides with his wife in the woods until the carnage is over.

While most of the people of Rovna are either slaughtered or flee to Rattay, the villager is determined to keep his promise to his father and remain at their family home. Henry visits Rovna to investigate the rumors of a surviving villager still living there, and finds him tending to his farm.

The villager tells Henry that he sent his wife to Rattay for safety, as the area is plagued by bandits. He hopes that the other survivors might be coaxed back, but they will need spiritual guidance to be convinced to leave the safety of the refugee camp.

He tells Henry that Father Francis, the Skalitz priest, is their best hope - otherwise, Henry should find Father Simon, beginning A Man of the Cloth, where Henry must get a new priest for the Church of Rovna.
