Jaroslav, also known as Nightingale, is a minor character in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. He was the head watchman in Rattay on Sasau, under the command of Captain Bernard.
Biography[]
He mentions growing up in Rattay on Sasau, and how much the walls have grown since he was a boy. During Keeping the Peace, Nightingale is in charge of showing Henry around Rattay. He has heard how Theresa saved Henry in Silver Skalitz, and slyly recommends that the clueless young man should go and thank her properly. He then takes Henry on a tour of Rattay, supervising as Henry deals with a few minor issues.
Like many citizens of Rattay, Nightingale is fairly hostile towards the Skalitz refugees. During the patrol with Henry he verbally abuses a begging refugee.
That evening, by ordering Henry to ensure that the Traders' Tavern was closed, despite Sir Hans Capon wanting to continue drinking, Nightingale was indirectly responsible for their brawl.
Although a friendly sort, he was known to have very little patience with watchmen who did not do their duty, such as in the case of Mojmir. However he was also not in the habit of creating trouble for his underlings by unnecessarily reporting their slip-ups, preferring to deal with things himself.

Quests[]
Notes[]
- Nightingale possesses an unusually large pool of items, but even more surprising, he possesses a copy of Crossguard for new sword, a quest item that has nothing to do with him.
- Nightingale can be encountered before his introduction in Keeping the Peace. As of yet it is unknown if he can be killed before Keeping the Peace - but he can be fought and injured and even made to surrender to Henry. (Citation needed)
- As seen in the cutscene after the prologue, Theresa passes through Rattay on Sasau with her cart when bringing Henry to Rattay Mill. This is most likely why Nightingale knows about how Henry arrived in the town. However, how he came to know that she was a mill wench is unknown, but it is not unreasonable to suspect that she was questioned about her destination before being allowed to pass, much like Henry is before he enters Rattay for the first time.
- Since the watchmen at the gates are randomised, it is possible that Nightingale is the watchman who queries Henry when entering Rattay for the first time.
