Biography[]

The Miller of Skalitz early in his life married and fathered three children, Stibor, Theresa and Samuel. His wife passed away at an unknown time. At some point the Miller took in Zbyshek as a favour to the boy's deceased father, who was a friend, though he thinks he is too workshy. Not wanting his family to work themselves to death just to put food on the table the Miller begin stealing sliver ore from the Skalitz mines and selling it to Rapota, who is in the service of Sir Jezhek of Ronow.

In 1403 during Ordinary Routine, the Miller gives his daughter, Theresa, some Prague Groschen and asks her to go pick up some nails from Martin, the local blacksmith, for repairing a fence. But before that to wakeup her younger brother, Samuel, who was sleeping in and needed to go to work at the mines, and to get Zbyshek working in the mill as well. Then lets her know that he has a little surprise for her later in the day.

Later that day during The Family Silver, town guards, Janek and Jaroslav, come inquiring about King Wenceslas IV's stolen sliver, as millers are thought to be criminals on the side and that the mill is the closest place to the mines. The nervous Miller sends his daughter to find her older brother, Stibor, at the fish trap in the stream near the bridge beside the mill. After the missing sack of stolen silver has been retrieved he thanks Theresa and apologizes for putting the whole family in danger. Then moves on to his surprise for her, meandering through the conversation about purchasing a new dress from Rattay, that she's a clever mature women and old enough to be married now. Finally coming to the fact that he has arranged a betrothal to a nice and rich man, Tobias Feyfar. That a feast and dance is to happen at the tavern paid for by Master Feyfar, and she is to meet him there tonight.

The next day during Unexpected Visit, Rapota arrives to collect the silver ore from the Miller, stating he has stashed the Prague Groschen where it always is and quickly leaves. The Miller then rebukes his daughter for failing to turn up at the tavern the night before, leaving poor Master Feyfar waiting in vain. Demanding that she go to tavern today and show her face, even if he has to drag her there himself. Next asking Theresa to at long last fetch the nails as the blacksmith was too busy yesterday with Sir Radzig Kobyla. A short time after that the Miller is leaning on the bridge beside his home when Skalitz is a attacked by an army of Cuman mercenaries, under orders from King Sigismund of Hungary, and being led by his general Sir Markvart von Aulitz. He tries to hurry back to the mill but is shot in the back by an arrow, then clubbed in the head by a war hammer as he continues to crawl towards his home.

Theresa eventually went back to Skalitz to bury her family, laying her father to rest together with his eldest son, Stibor, in the churchyard of Rovna.
