The Mill of Ledetchko was owned by Miller Oliver and his daughter Jane, with the assistance of the foreman Old Thomas. During A Friend In Need... Henry is successful is getting his friends Fritz and Matthew jobs as carpenters there. He learns there are conflicts between the miller, his daughter, and Old Thomas, which he must resolve.
Oliver sleeps in a small bed next to the storage shed, while Jane, Thomas, Fritz and Matthew sleep in the barn.
