I talked to the gossip woman, pretending to be curious about the grave. She clearly didn't know anything about it being dug up and was very nervous indeed. She said it was the grave of a charcoal-burner, Lev, who was struggling to make ends meet and took to thievery when his wife fell pregnant. They soon caught on to him and punished him, but he got off light and no one talked to him after that. His wife died in childbirth along with the child and after that he turned his back on God and man. | |||
