Sir Kuno, also known as Baron Rychwald, is a main character in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance DLC, Band of Bastards.

Biography[]

Kuno is a broke noble and mercenary. He leads a band of tough men, most of whom have had brushes with the law and might otherwise have ended on the gallows, were it not for his pragmatism and improvisational skill.

Kuno of Rychwald was born into the House of Rychwald. He spoke of how his mother was mentally deranged and how his father often spoke of war, despite never participating in any. Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, his family's property was destroyed in a fire, killing his father, mother, and little brother. All that remained of his family was his sister, Adela. His cousin offered to house them, which they happily accepted, but after a week his cousin and Adela announced their engagement. Kuno knew this was a power grab for what little wealth the House of Rychwald had left. He rejected the idea of their marriage and he was kicked out of his cousin's castle. Desperate and penniless, Kuno turned to mercenary work while also acquiring disgust for his noble status.

After many successful years as a mercenary and run-ins with the law, he formed a band of mercenaries who developed extreme loyalty to him. Shortly after a war he served in, Kuno developed a rivalry with the local city council who captured him and schemed to have him hanged. But a nobleman who served with him, Lord Radzig Kobyla, convinced the council to let him go, leaving Kuno indebted to Radzig.

Many years later, the rogue Hungarian nobleman Sir Istvan Toth had begun pillaging the Skalitz-Sasau District. Radzig enlisted Kuno's band to kill the remaining members of Toth's bandits lingering in the area after his departure, Radzig hired Kuno since he would do it for free as a favour for saving his life. After coming upon some bandit raids, Kuno's band discovered an old ally of his from a previous job, Sir Hagen Zoul, had been the one responsible for pillaging Radzig's estates due to being an old enemy of him. Shortly afterward Jakey, a member of Kuno's band, had been kidnapped by Hagen, swaying him with groschen to lead the band into an ambush. Kuno and the band survive the ambush and he deduces that Jakey betrayed them, due to his disappearance after the battle. Kuno sends Henry to interrogate Jakey. After the interrogation, Henry tells Kuno about the location of Sir Hagen. After meeting Hagen, he offers Kuno a massive amount of silver in exchange for betraying Radzig. Henry can convince Kuno to reject the silver, pay him 15000 Prague Groschen (or less with barter) in exchange for continuing his job, or leave him to accept the silver. The first two leading to a showdown with Hagen and his thugs, while the third option has Henry challenging Sir Hagen to a duel.

Equipment[]

Notes[]

  • While his equipment cannot be looted as it isn't actually an item, but rather his model (with the exception of him dying with his sword and shield drawn which are dropped and can be looted).
    • Kuno's shield can be pickpocketed from him while he is sleeping at his camp. If this is done, it will be very difficult for Kuno to survive the battle in What Price Honour? because he will not be able to defend himself properly.
