Konrad was a former Knight of the Cross with the Red Star turned fugitive in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
Biography[]
Konrad joined the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star at least 20 years ago in Prague, and where he met a fellow knight, Ambrose. The two became good friends to the point that when Ambrose discovered their Grand Master had committed treason, he informed Konrad, who helped out his dear friend. However, despite Ambrose being second in rank just behind the Grand Master, this caused them problems and as a result Ambrose went into hiding, only telling Konrad where he was.
Konrad likewise had to escape the Order's wrath when he started looking into suspicious murders and convict releases, that accumulated into an archbishop's death. When he found out there were corrupt knights in the Order that led to this, he informed the Grand Master, Zdenyek. However, Zdenyek was in on it and so sought to have Konrad killed as well. Konrad fled, though he was forced to kill a couple of his fellow knights in his escape.
Even though Ambrose was living in seclusion in Apollonia, his friend still held the rank of seneschal, so Konrad sought him out as he was the only one that could convict the grand master. However, when Konrad arrived at his friend's hut, he found Ambrose was one foot in the grave and couldn't even comprehend Konrad was there. In his last moments though, he suddenly spoke clearly that he had two final wishes: to pass on a message to a widow in Troskowitz named Margaret, and to retrieve his old sword so he could hold it one last time. As Konrad was out retrieving the sword though, his friend passed away.
With nowhere else to go in the meantime, and wishing to at least fulfill his friend's dying wishes, Konrad took on his friend's guise of being the hermit. However, this caused locals to wrongly suspect something sinister was going on as they could have sworn the hermit's health had been frail but was suddenly back to normal again, saw weird sightings of a black horse and rider go through at night, and seen a strange figure at a cross, leaving it slanted, all of Konrad's accidental doing when he got to the area.
