Shields are a Defence weapon in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Their primary function is to deflect incoming weapon blows, but they can also be used to push an opponent away. They come in many different shapes and sizes, and are held with the off hand and forearm using straps or handles on the inner side of the shield.
Shields are best used in conjunction with short weapons such as axes or shortswords, with the shield covering the left hand and forearm, while the striking weapon is in the main hand (Henry is right-handed). Though you can use a longsword with a shield or a torch, the speed at which you swing the sword will be slower and longsword combos will not be possible (though you will still be able to perform one-handed sword combos that work with shields, such as Blunt Strike).
