Jan Žižka z Trocnova a Kalicha, better known as simply Jan Žižka, is a character in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. A Bohemian outlaw, mercenary, and ardent supporter of Jan Hus, Žižka is best known in his later life for leading the outnumbered and outgunned Hussite armies to victory in the first half of the Hussite Wars (1419-1434). He is hailed as a national hero in the modern day Czech Republic.
Before the Hussite Wars, Žižka fought as an outlaw in a bandit group. He was wanted by Heinrich III von Rosenberg, and served as a mercenary. At the time of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Žižka serves as the leader of his own group of outlaws.
Biography[]
Žižka first meets Henry and a wounded Hans in the Bohemian Paradise. It seems that he engages in a bloody duel with Henry, where Henry manages to knock off his helmet and disable his left eye. But Henry and Hans first saw him when he raided the Leipa camp with Istvan Tóth.
Interestingly, he is later seen in a besieged fort accompanying Father Godwin and Hans with both of his eyes.
Posessions[]
- Žižka is initially seen wearing a short cuirass, a tan padded gambeson, decorated brigandine chausses and pauldrons, leather gloves, and wears a German-style Bascinet with houndskull klappvisor and mail aventail.
- He carries a longsword, as well as his signature mace.
Notes[]
- It is currently unknown what Henry did exactly to Žižka's eye, since Žižka is seen completely unharmed in the prologue and a later siege in the game. By then, Žižka seems to be an ally of Henry's, whereas he is initially hostile to Henry.
- In real history, the precise time at which Žižka lost his eye is unknown. Presumably, he may have lost it during childhood or adolescence. He lost his second eye (rendering him completely blind) during the siege of Rabí Castle in the 1420s.
- Historically, Žižka is hailed as one of the greatest generals of the European Middle Ages. He is credited with pioneering the wide usage of firearms in european warfare. His famous Wagenberg tactics allowed the small, poorly trained, and vastly outarmed Hussite militias (primarily formed from common villagers) to fend off the armored knights of King Sigismund's crusading armies. However, these accomplishments ocurred decades after the events of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
- Žižka's likeness is modeled after a Czech actor Stanislav Majer.
