Biography[]

Henry talks with him in order to investigate for the Neuhof massacre, in The Hunt Begins, after his employer Smil is murdered by bandits. At first, Ginger denies knowing anything, so Henry continues with his investigation elsewhere.

Henry soon stumbles across a gravely injured bandit, and finds that he has been stabbed by a distinctive hoof-pick. By the time he returns to Neuhof though, Ginger has disappeared, promping Ginger in a Pickle. In order to find him, Henry visits the nearby charcoal kilns of Rattay and of Neuhof, before determining he is friends with the burners at the Talmberg camp.

After ridding the burners of some bandits that are camped out in the area (or lying about it), they will tell you where to find Ginger, who is hiding in an abandoned cottage nearby. Ginger will tell you the whole story - how he witnessed the bandits entering Neuhof and began setting fire to the stable and hamstringing the horses, but he was too terrified to cry out. The two bandit groups quarreled and one group ran off, straight into Ginger.

Henry finds Ginger

Henry finds Ginger's hideout

A man with a limp, who Ginger had seen in the tavern and recognized as being from Uzhitz, snatched Ginger's hoof-pick and told him to hide if he wanted to live. Ginger did, keeping quiet until morning when the bandits were all long gone, before fleeing Neuhof in terror.

He feels desperately guilty for not raising the alarm, or fighting back, even though Henry tries to convince him that it would have just meant adding his own death to the count. He asks for Henry's help in eliminating the bandits who are still chasing him, and then to go back to Zora and see if she will take him back. If he does return to Neuhof, he will later comment that he is haunted by nightmares of that night, and sometimes wishes he had died too.

Notes[]

  • If Henry decides to help Ginger return to Neuhof, the future life of Ginger will depend on how he goes about it. If he just tells Ginger to go back, he will still be unsure of himself and haunted by his memories when back at Neuhof. If Henry convinces Zora of taking him back, Ginger will mostly overcome his trauma and reward Henry with Horsemanship XP.
