Forbidden Fruit is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

It immediately follows after completing Materia Prima for Kreyzl.

Walkthrough[]

Go talk to Bonnie, who's on the other side of the river from Lower Semine Mill, at The Lair. If you want to earn a little extra reputation, be sure to bring at least one fresh herb for her. She'll talk with you, opening a way to talk a bit more about your lives and earn further reputation, otherwise you can choose to bypass this and get straight to business.

She'll eventually reveal Kreyzl needs a lot of saltpetre and as they've already scoured the whole area and taken what they could find, this only leaves one last option: getting it from pits with carcasses. However, they don't know where the local gravedigger, Ignatius, buries such bodies, so you'll need to go talk to him. She'll also suggest you bring him some fresh meat to gain his favor.

Helping Ignatius[]

While you can give him fresh meat, in the end you'll still be dragged along to help him out before he'll show you the pit's location. If it's not at the right time (early in the morning), he'll offer you some reading material in his outhouse and some money to rent a place to sleep in Troskowitz if needed. Once it's around the right time, go talk to Ignatius and go sit on the wagon. Note: you won't be able to access your horse's inventory (including moving stuff over) until you are taken to the pit, so be sure you have enough space to not become encumbered or other ways to mitigate it as you'll be hauling around a few sacks.

As you're riding through the area, Ignatius will discuss Kreyzl and his shady hired hands before making his first stop at an unmarked abandoned hut. He'll then send you in to retrieve the deer carcass and bring it back to the wagon for him. There will be a wolf here before you can enter the hut. Note also the room you need to get to has a very hard lock, so unless you're able to lockpick it quickly, instead head back outside and to the side of the hut is a fence with some barrels. Climb up and then over the fence, walk around the outside here, and through the window into the locked room to find the carcass. Pack it up and bring it back to the wagon, only to find Ignatius dealing with some would-be avengers.

The men will note they were stolen from by a couple thieves that were seen in the area, Scruffy and Dunger, aliases used by Bonnie and Zinek. You'll have an easy speech check here to convince the men to leave without issue, otherwise you'll only be able to attack them.

After that, get back on the wagon and Ignatius will go to the second stop, explaining they're picking up a couple dead pigs that, despite superstitions, sounds like they were poisoned. At the place, the woman will talk a bit to Ignatius about it, while also dropping hints about the third stop (a dog that's been annoying everyone in the area). If you want to do the optional step here to find the source of the infection, head towards the house and then walk up the small path on the other side going north into the forest. When you find the stream, follow it northeast a short ways and you'll find the source: several dead deer in the water. To save a little running back and forth, go back to the pig pen and bag up and carry one pig back to the wagon, then let Ignatius know of the source. An hour will pass as you both take care of that, allowing you to then go back and get the last pig and talk to Ignatius to let him know it's done.

There's approximately 30 Belladonna in a close proximity to the left side of the wagon, so be sure to use this opportunity to grab it before mounting up on the wagon.

Get back on the wagon a third time, and Ignatius will fill you in on the last task, but this one isn't about hauling a carcass. Rather, it's to kill a dog that's been bothering everyone. You can try to refuse, but Ignatius will hold it over your head he won't reveal the location of the pit unless you do so. That said, if you don't want to kill the dog, there's a way out of it without having to find the pit on your own.

Reaching the final stop, head to the marker to find the dog isn't in the shed. You'll soon hear barking coming from the northeast. Head that way and towards the lone tree across the road to find none other than Bonnie with the dog in question. You can explain that you were sent to kill the dog and she'll get upset, saying she'd like to keep the dog after her last one died. She'll also explain she saw how Veisar treated the dog the last time she was in the area. If you don't want to kill Monarch, you can agree to let her keep him and she'll be happy and quickly takes him away.

Head back to Ignatius and, if you let him go, you can try and lie that you killed him. If you pass the medium speech check, he'll be convinced you did the job and approve. He'll then take you to the pit, where you'll have no choice but to taste it to make sure it's saltpetre, much to Ignatius' amusement. He'll also give you Knacker's gloves for assisting him.

In the open hole, you should see a prompt to taste it on one of the walls. After tasting and confirming it's saltpetre, you can talk to Ignatius to head back to the cemetery, though he'll request you help him bury the newest carcasses, taking an hour.

Head back to Kreyzl to let him know the location and he'll reward you with 85 Groschen and As Quiet as a Cat II. He will then lead right into the next quest, Opus Magnum.
